rayofmemory's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ::deadline:: i stayed after school today to talk to my journalism teacher about her wanting me to join the web page staff for the schools newspaper. she said that if i join the staff this year, theres a good chance that i will be web master for our school next year. i was like "aw, HELL YAH!" i get to skip 5th period friday to talk to the guy whos web master this year so he can teach me some of the ropes and answer any questions i have. my journalism teacher also teaches general writing...i have her two periods in a row...first and second...anyways...lets see if i can explain the project we are doing. ok...first the semester will be divided into themes. the first one is "places" and we can do a place that everyone knows about...such as the tridge or the skate park...or we can do a place that everyone doesn't necessarily know about. i decided to do my "neighborhood" wildlife. all the deer, bunnies, coyotes(if i happen to see any this time of year), turkeys and other stuff like that. i have to write discriptive writing pieces on things i see and stuff like that. my teacher is also gonna let me borrow her digital camera for a weekend to take pictures of the animals. the second theme is "people" and we have to interview people about our places. like i'm gonna interview our neighbor gene because he has a wildlife problem...like the animals keep eating his flowers...burrowing under his shed and house...and they also eat his veggie garden...so i figure i'll interview him. my little hawaiian friend is doing her project on haunted places...so she might interview the people who live or work there. the third theme is "events"...our teacher hasn't really explained this one all that well...but thats bcuz it'll be a while before we do that part. all i know is it has something to do with the history of the places. anywho...with all this information..our class is going to make a book and actually get it published and sell it. we also are going to sell our seperate stuff...as far as i know. and the money we make...we can do what we want with it. and today the teacher came up with the idea to also make a webpage of our stuff...to sell it and to display it. and she asked me if i would be willing to set that all up. i'm so excited :) oh, since alot of the students came into general writing thinking it was a creative writing class she said that we could take one day to do creative writing..such as fiction, short stories, essays and poems...and they don't have to be about or have anything to do with our project at all. i thought it was a creative writing class...and when i found out that it wasn't..i'll admit..i was bummed...but i love what we're doing! its friggin awesome. happy day. for once. lol.
